Kikoi Connection's "Rooted and Rising" program is a transformative initiative designed to empower young individuals aged 16-25. Through an engaging workshop, participants explore a wide range of crucial topics, including:

• Well-being and Mental Health: Prioritizing mental and emotional well-being through self-care practices and stress management techniques.

• Financial Literacy: Gaining practical knowledge and skills in personal finance, budgeting, and financial planning.

• Career Development: Preparing for the world of work through workshops on interview skills, resume writing, and career exploration.

• Education and Higher Education: Navigating the education system, exploring higher education options, and developing academic skills.

• Climate Action and Changemaking: Understanding environmental issues, developing sustainable practices, and engaging in community action.

Young Women's Workshop

The young women's workshop was held in April 2024 at Viables Community Centre. Before the workshop, participants expressed a range of emotions from excitement to nervousness. Post-workshop, their sentiments shifted positively, with increased confidence, inspiration, and satisfaction noted. Feedback highlighted the value gained from sessions on communication, financial stability, and creating change.

Rooted and Rising is more than just a workshop series; it's a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and growth. Through interactive sessions, mentorship opportunities, and a supportive community, young people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to navigate life's challenges and create a positive impact on the world.
